Origin and task

Industrial producers of meat and meat products have come together in Germany for the first time 1924 to a National Association. It was companies with craftsmanship origin whose special interests were not always perceived in the craft organizations. It was the transition between artisanal and industrial companies run - like today - fluently. According to the statute of the Federation of German meat industry following tasks:

 - perceive all common interests of the industry he represents, to promote and protect.

 - To advise the merged in it industry in all professional matters and other general economic, legal and technical issues and to represent.

 - To advocate fair competition among members in the economy.

 - to foster the exchange of professional and technical information in the industry as well as with business and science.


The objective of the association was consciously wide in scope, to cover all wishes and demands of the members account.

Membership of the Federation of German meat industry is voluntary. However, this requires that the applicant undertaking is established in the Federal Republic of Germany and loading meat or processed. Restrictions on the association belonging regards the minimum turnover, the company form or belonging to specific enterprise groupings do not exist.

At present, the Federation of German meat industry about 210 companies belong to. The members have mainly medium-sized character. Therefore, the association is responsible to a large extent for the affiliated member businesses service functions. Difficult laws and regulatory texts must be recast into understandable forms, so that the individual operation can recognize the practical implications and implement into everyday life.
